Terms of Service

Last updated: October 26, 2026 • Effective Date: January 1, 2026

1. Agreement & Acceptance

By accessing or using StudSpacing.com ("the Website"), including any interactive framing calculators, cut-list formatters, visual layout diagrams, review comparisons, or instructional guides, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must discontinue use of the Website immediately.

2. Permitted Use & Jobsite Utility

StudSpacing.com provides computational utilities and educational reference diagrams intended for licensed general contractors, professional framing carpenters, estimators, architects, and DIY homeowners.

  • Personal and Commercial Jobsite Use: You are granted a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to generate framing schedules, bill-of-materials estimates, cut lists, and layout diagrams for legitimate planning and construction purposes.
  • Prohibited Activities: You may not scrape our algorithms, reverse engineer proprietary source code, re-host our interactive visualizers in iframe wrappers without authorization, or initiate automated denial-of-service requests.

3. Intellectual Property Rights

All content on StudSpacing.com—including computational algorithms, visual SVG diagram renders, user interface components, technical guides, diagrams, and design tokens—is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws. All trademarks and brand names referenced (such as Franklin Sensors, Zircon, Walabot, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Home Depot, Lowe's) are the property of their respective owners and are used strictly under nominative fair use for descriptive and educational purposes.

4. Structural Engineering & Code Disclaimer

The calculations, lumber formulas, stud spacing models, and span guidelines provided on this Website are based on the general prescriptive requirements of the International Residential Code (IRC 2021/2024 Table R602.3(5)) and standard carpentry trade conventions.

However, our calculations DO NOT constitute professional structural engineering, architectural stamping, or licensed contractor certification:

  • Actual structural framing requirements depend on local municipal building codes, soil bearing capacity, regional seismic risk categories, snow loads, and wind exposure ratings.
  • Always verify wall layouts, header sizes, and load-bearing framing configurations with your local building department (AHJ - Authority Having Jurisdiction) and licensed structural engineer before ordering materials or framing.
  • Please read our full Building Code & Structural Disclaimer for comprehensive guidelines.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StudSpacing.com, its developers, authors, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages resulting from:

  • Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in calculations, stud counts, or layout schedules.
  • Physical property damage, structural wall failures, drywall cracking, or fastener shear.
  • Personal injury, physical accidents, or jobsite mishaps resulting from tool usage or framing activities.
  • Financial losses resulting from lumber over-ordering or short-ordering at retail lumberyards.

All tools and informational resources are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

6. Advertisements & External Links

StudSpacing.com may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and third-party advertising partners. We do not endorse or guarantee the products, services, or claims made in third-party advertisements. Clicking on external links or advertisements directs you to external web properties governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

7. Modifications & Termination

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature, calculator, or content section of the Website at any time without prior notice. We may update these Terms periodically, and your continued use of the Website constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
